  • Just under £1 of every £5 spent in cinema is spent on a 3D film
  • In 2012, 43 of the 646 released titles were released in 3D. 
  • Top 3D releases of 2012 were Marvel Avengers Assemble, The Hobbit,
  • Prometheus, The Amazing Spiderman, Life of Pi.
  • The UK Box Office took over £1 billion pounds for the third straight year.

  • The most popular genre was action with 34.5% of all cinema visits.
  • 24.1% of all cinema visits occur on a Saturday 
  • The top 3 films in 2012 were; Skyfall, Dark Knight Rises and Marvel Avengers Assemble.  





  • These 3 films accounted for 18% of all box office spend. About £1 in every £6.
  •  The most pirated films of 2012 were; Project X (8.72m downloads), Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (8.5m downloads) and The Dark Knight Rises (8.23 downloads).
  • Think like a Man, The Hunger Games and The Avengers were the most tweeted films of 2012.
